Team Description:
We are a team of four boys and four girls who are crazy - but not too crazy. This is the second year of FLL for 4 of our members, while the other 4 are rookies. Our team has 6 fifth graders and 2 third graders. We had fun with FLL and learned a lot about programming, robot building and the issues affecting seniors. Most importantly, we learned the importance of Gracious Professionalism and other Core Values. We are excited to have reached the State Championships this year.

Brief Submission Description:
Falls are a serious public health problem among older adults. More than a third of adults aged 65 years or older fall each year. Nearly 87% of all fractures in the elderly are due to falls. Our team’s product helps seniors live independently and stay connected with their family if there is an emergency or injury. Our watch provides assistance to seniors who have sustained a fall. When a person falls, there is a sudden and significant increase in g-force. This watch measures the change with the help of an accelerometer and will immediately send a message to the nearest hospital and the contact person listed. If the person wearing the watch is not severely injured, he or she can immediately press the green “I’m OK” button, so the hospital does not send an ambulance. The Senior Safety Watch can be activated automatically and can be used anywhere – even outside the house. It does not require a monthly subscription
