Team Description:
We range from ages 9 to 13. Also, we are diverse with team members of African, Asian, Indian, and German descent. Also, the team name was at first brought up as a sort of joke. A team member came up with the name "N.E.R.D.S". The team actually liked the idea and came out with the acronym "New Efficient Robotic Dispenser Solution", referring to our project idea. The N.E.R.D.S. turned out to be a fantastic team name!

Brief Submission Description:
The internet-enabled, robotic pill dispenser is programmed by the caregiver to dispense the correct dosages of pills at the correct frequencies for the patient. The patient’s compliance with his or her post-discharge medication regimen is monitored by the off-site caregiver, and as necessary, adjustments are made to the combination and frequencies of pills dispensed. This invention allows for multiple combinations of pills to be dispensed at different times. This invention also allows for an off-site caregiver to monitor a patient’s medication compliance, keep records, and make modifications to the patient’s medication dosages. Previous automated pill dispensers cannot be used when a patient’s medication prescription requires taking multiple combinations of pills at different times. Previous automated pill dispensers also rely on the patient to self-monitor his or her own medication compliance. Self-monitoring is not feasible for patients with memory loss and related conditions.
