Team Description:
Team MiddieBots is a rookie neighborhood team from Elyria, Ohio. We are made up of three 4th grade boys and one 5th grade girl who had a blast throughout their rookie year. We loved working together as a team and came up with an idea for an invention that everyone we've talked to wishes were already in production. We were sponsored by a grant from Rockwell Automation and were excited to have participated in a regional in our city, and were honored to be invited to advance to the district competition in Akron.

Brief Submission Description:
Our team discovered from our senior partner that a problem many seniors face is struggling to transport large, heavy and bulky oxygen tanks. In order to try to decrease this struggle, our team came up with O2D2. O2D2 is an "Oxygen Dynamic Delivery" system. The idea behind the system is to create a feedback loop with a pulse ox to a "smart" oxygen regulator that attaches to the oxygen tank that tells when the patient is in need of more oxygen. In creating this feedback system, O2D2's "smart" regulator knows from the pulse ox level when it needs to be on or off. Therefore, less oxygen is wasted (being pumped out when the patient's pulse oxygen level is at an acceptable level) and ultimately less oxygen is consumed. Therefore, the patient can carry around a smaller and more convenient oxygen tank and retain their independence for as long as possible, with the added bonus of "going green" by not wasting concentrated oxygen.
