Team Description:
We are a team of seven students from 5th grade to 8th grade. Our project won 1st place research award from judges who said they were “blown away” by our solution. We are also a rookie FTC team, winning Inspire award (2nd place) and advancing to VA championships. Since winning VA/DC Championship (Div1) in 2010, we have been promoting FLL, by mentoring FLL and Jr.FLL teams at Greenbriar West, and by holding FLL Robot Design workshops in the community. We learned a lot about issues facing seniors by volunteering at senior living facilities; by doing a survey, and visiting senior centers. Our senior partner is a doctor who volunteers in the community. We met experts in “Nana” technology, and researchers in aging. We brainstormed on six different ideas, and chose to work on MedAssist App based on our survey results, over a shoe that prevents falls. We found an innovative way to help seniors and caregivers manage medications, and also prevent hospitalizations.
