Team Description:
o Our team, the Aerobots, has 5 members – 3 girls and 2 boys, ages 10-13 years. We used to go to the same independent school, but it closed. Now we all go to different schools. We all love Lego Robotics and enjoy working together. We’ve known each other so long we are like a family, and we have learned to tolerate each other’s idiosyncrasies. We meet in a downtown church now. Our coaches are former teachers of the school. We have especially enjoyed the Senior Solutions theme and the connections we have made in the wellness and Senior Exercise community.

Brief Submission Description:
o The ElliptiWalker is a combination exerciser and mode of transportation for seniors. The walker has four side wheels and two footboards, which are mounted on two crankshafts that are bent, so that one side is up when the opposite side is down. The footboards move in an elliptical motion, which provides exercise without stressing joints. Side rails are attached to the axels on the outside of the footboards to stabilize the occupant, if necessary. A fifth wheel with steering handlebars is attached to the front of the frame to steer into turns with the ElliptiWalker. This invention will help improve leg and hip movement, strength, flexibility and coordination. The ElliptiWalker will help seniors maintain independence and stay engaged in walking activities, especially going for walks on paved trails.
