Team Description:
Team Generation NeXT is a group of 7th and 8th grade boys who meet after school. Our team had only one returning member this year and we were unable to start meeting until later in the year than planned. We are a group of boys with very different personalities and varied interest. We have learned that every ones ideas are important. As a group we have discovered each other's strengths and have learned that by working together as a team we are able to accomplish more. We chose our name at one of our meetings and thought we could include the lettering from the LEGO NXT in our team name by including a lowercase "e" between the N and X to represent that we are the next generation which is significant to us after working with our senior partners. We also have a team theme song and enjoy jamming to the beat together.

Brief Submission Description:
The Automatic Laundry Folder (ALF) is designed to assist seniors with the everyday task of folding laundry. Seniors have difficulty with laundry folding due to joint stiffness and pain. With the ALF seniors can fold laundry easily with the push of a button. The ALF uses three LEGO motors and a programed NXT to move three different flaps to easily fold laundry into a perfect square each time. The team designed and built and actual ALF working prototype and shared it with our senior partner who was able to easily use it to fold laundry.
